Will employers be able to find out that I filed bankruptcy?

I am considering filing for bankruptcy to cover my old student loans. With employers now requiring background checks, do you think that it will hurt my job prospects in the future? Will employers be able to find out that I filed bankruptcy?

  1. You can not file bankruptcy on student loans. Unless you are totally disabled and the prospects of ever working again are slim. Your employer could find out if you filed bankruptcy. Bankruptcy filing is a matter of public record. Speak to an experience bankruptcy attorney is my best advice in this case.
