How soon will the collection calls stop after I file bankruptcy?

I am so stressed out over my bills that I’m losing sleep and worrying all day long. The creditors call me at all hours of the day and it’s driving me crazy. How soon will the collection calls stop after I file bankruptcy? And what can I do if they keep calling me afterwards? Can I press charges?

  1. Once you file bankruptcy and the creditor receives notice, then they can not contact you by any means (letters, phone, lawsuit). If they contact you afterwards or even during your bankruptcy, you can file a motion for contempt for violation of the discharge order or automatic stay order of the court. Stop stressing and put that energy into getting all the required documents together to file your case. Good luck.
