I have close to $200,000 in student loans. I have tried for the last 8 years to find a job that allows me to pay the $2,500 payment and have been unsuccessful. The loans have been in forebearance since getting out of school. I know that student loans are not usually dischargable in bankruptcy but there is no way I can ever pay this. The amount keeps growing as interest keeps getting added on. Is there any way that student loans can be discharged?
Please explain if co-debtors are also protected or how it affects them. What determines if they get a stay and if they do, can it later be lifted and why? Will co-debtor in a Chapter 13 have to file also? And if they don't file are they still responsible for the same debt?
I am experiencing some financial hardship and need to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy but don't have money for an attorney. Are there any options for me? Should I file myself? Should I consider consumer credit counseling?
Can you file Chapter 13 if you have previously filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2000 and on my credit report it states that it will continue on record until 2010. I thought it was only supposed to be seven years? Also some of the things that have been discharged are still on there and I was wondering if I have to wait the ten years for them all to come off my record?
I filed a Chapter 13 in Sept of 2005 I quit making my payments and it was dismissed. Can I file again now?
What about all the little things in my home? My digital camera, my TV, & other not "high dollar" things but things that are valued over $100. My daughter's bike & other things. I'm recently divorced & own my car (paid for) it's 10 years old & has 117,000 mls on it. Maybe worth 3 grand. My car isn't just for myself it's also for my daughter. Is that taken into consideration when going bankrupt? I've heard the basics on your home & car & things valued over $1000 but what about the other things? Does someone come into your home & itemize or something what they can sell?? I don't mean to sound dramatic, but this isn't mentioned anywhere online that I can find.
I am only 20 yrs. old, however, me and my fiance used a credit card after I found out I was pregnant to get an apartment and such. So I owe on that 1000+. Then when the baby came, my fathers insurance dropped me 2 days before the baby came. Now I'm stuck with those bills as well. Is bankruptcy a good option for me?
I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December '99. I am experiencing financial hardship and I was informed that I meet the criteria to file a Chapter 7 however no one seems to know if I can re-file because of the new laws that went into effect 10/05. Can I refile?
My 26 year old daughter was just released from a hospital psychiatric unit (8 Sep06). She attempted suicide for the second time this year. She had just graduated from college and had just started teaching. She is unable to work because of the stress on her fragile psychiatric condition. She owes 12K in credit card bills, 13K on a car, and is on a 6 month lease for an apartment. Other than those bills, she owes nothing else. She will be applying for Medicaid and diability payments. We are looking for options in declaring bankruptcy for her.
If the debt is in the form of a judgement, can it still be discharged by Chapter 7 bankruptcy?
I have a friend that at one time had a business with her husband he was killed on the job and she tried to keep the business going but failed she has already lost her home she is living with me along with two small great grandchildren under the age of 3. All she has is a vehicle that was donated to her by our church. She works at the school cafeteria and doesnt make enough money to pay her babysitting much less pass bills. Her checking account is being levied now for pass bills she has outstanding debts totaling around $30,000.00 from this past busy. The Chapter 7 bankruptcy sounds like you cash in your possessions would she lose her car . Would she even qualify to file Chapter 7?
