Creditor Reporting Discharged Item

Creditor Reporting Discharged Item

Is it legal for a creditor to report an item on a credit report that has been discharged? If so for how long and if not how can I have the item removed?

1 Comments:

  • Once an item is discharged, it should show as discharged or "included in bankruptcy" on your credit report. Different credit reporting agencies have different rules. It is possible that the item will remain on your credit report for many years, but again, it should indicate that it was discharged. You can go to the Equifax or Trans Union web sites for more detailed information.
