Chapter 7

My questions is my husband fell ill and we have to convert to a chapter 7, I have my car that I had paid for before we were married it is the only vehicle we have left, can the court take the vehicle? even though it is the only one we have, I drive it to work and to take my spouse to his Doctor appts, this would leave us without any transportation at all. Is this allowed??

  • The answer will depend on the value of the vehicle, whether or not there are any liens against the vehicle, and which state you live in.

I suggest you contact a bankruptcy attorney to review your situation in more detail, and decide which option is correct for you.
